Final Cut Studio Training Videos
Posted in General, Video Post Production/Editing on Nov 11th, 2009
For those that didnt really understand whats going on using Final Cut Studio during our training sessions, be happy to note that are web tutorials on how to use it, so you can pop by to this address :
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/
which has links to 5 sites (some need to pay to see the videos, just go to the free ones) and hopefully find the answer to your questions there.
this is an reupdate of a post by XJ some time back in which the address given there no longer works, this is the new address for the tutorials.
Dear SPVC Members,
It has been slightly more than 2 years, since the first meetup session of SPVC.
I still remember the day that Soon Bing forwarded me an email stating that over @ cca.sg , some folks were setting up a videography club. So the Kaypoh me went in to join in the fun and everything after that has been a great experience.
Shannon and Kevin, the two presidents before me have handed over to me a club which had been built up with extremely talented people who have done great service to the school through the various means, be it volunteering at Clementi Student Service Centre or by producing numerous video’s for the needs of the community within and outside of SP.
SPVC has grown even further for the past 6 months.
We have collectively done a huge corporate project for NTUC Cleaner’s Day. It was no small feat considering the number of man hours put to it. Yao Wei, Kenny, Kaijun on the camera work and Vicki doing up the neccessary animations.
Also, although every one had tight schedules, various members had volunteered their time to cover the numerous recurrent SP events like lunchshow @ Moberly, International Water Festival, Polyforum etc.
This is the dedication towards the community that I feel proud of for the SPVC family.
From this coming semester onwards, I would be on the internship programme and thus I would not be able to participate in SPVC as actively in SPVC as before
Therefore I have decided to have Vicki to head the club from now on. I would also like to announce that she would be the President of SPVC for the 2010/2011 Academic Year. Vicki has contributed greatly to SPVC with the great talent and flair she has in Videography(btw, she’s one of the top students for digital media). For those who are not aware, she has been the club secretary and had coordinated many of the events the club has held. Also she had been handling other administrative duties such as CCA Point Claims.
I would like to have everyone give their full support behind her to bring SPVC to greater heights.
One other member I would like to highlight, is Yao Wei(Another top student
). Yao wei has been the Club’s treasurer and has contributed greatly to the club. He has helped at many high profile events and had risen to the challenge. One such case was when Kaijun fell sick during the international water festival and was not able to turn up. Yao Wei and Kenny collectively coordinated the effort for the event coverage and I feel that that is highly commendable. Yao Wei shall be the Vice President of the 2010/2011 Academic Year.
I believe that by placing the club in the hands in Vicki, assisted by Yao Wei, SPVC will grow to greater heights and become something that even the public can relate to and be a club that we are proud to be part of.
Best Regards
Chan Xiang Ju

Premiere Pro Editing Workshop
Posted in Freshmen Orientation, General, SPVC News on Jun 18th, 2009
Last week we successfully held a basic premiere pro editing workshop for the members. Those who missed it(members or even non members) and are interested in attending another session, let us know and we will plan another one if there is enough interest.
In the days to come, we are even planning to have more advance workshops that would touch on color correction, multi-cam editing etc.
Now, if only Adobe would sponsor us licences to install on school computers for the workshop……
Cheers

Talk organised by SP Photographers
Posted in Discussion, General on Oct 24th, 2008
Xiang Ju and I attended today’s talk with Mr Ray Chua, a photojournalist with Singapore Press Holdings, which was organised by the SP Photographers.

I was awed by the beautiful images, as well as the careful thought process that went through Mr Chua’s mind as he was planning the various shots. That’s one major take-away I had from the event. When planning a shoot, be it a photography shoot, or filming, the stakeholders concerned need to be able to visualise the desired outcome, so that the results don’t look like random pot-shots.
That is where the similarities end. In the area of videography, I feel that short of a reality show, all other shots are planned shots. Whereas photography opts to capture a snapshot of reality in motion, what the process of film-making entails the precise planning of a desirable series of images, in order to bring the story to life.
All thanks to Singapore Polytechnic Photographers for the great opportunity to attend this event, and to Farhan, SPP’s president for inviting the SP Videography Club to attend the talk!
Photos to enhance videos [Awesome]
Posted in Discussion, General on Aug 21st, 2008
I’m sure that this is ground-breaking stuff:
Producers can improve the quality of videos by melding higher quality information from digital still photographs into videos. Hit the play button for a video demonstration. This is just awesome!
